The birth of a child and their baptism is a great opportunity to give thanks to God with friends and family and promise to bring our children up as a follower of Jesus Christ.
In infant baptism services, parents and godparents publicly declare their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, and declare their intentions to raise their child in a home that honours Jesus Christ. Parents have the opportunity to discuss these promises with the minister in order to:
- Understand the Christian faith and becoming familiar with what it is that you are promising in a baptism service.
- See how the how the service is conducted and your part in it.
- Get to know the minister.
- Hear of the ongoing support we offer families as they engage in the rewarding task of raising children to know and trust Jesus.
Infant baptisms can be conducted during our regular Sunday morning services at 9:30am, or at a separate service at 12:30pm.
It may be that you are not ready for the commitment required of a baptism. You may instead be interested in a thanksgiving service. This service gives parents the opportunity to thank God for the birth of your child, name them and dedicate them to Him.
The first step is to attend one of our 9:30am church services to see the way we do things when we meet together and pick up an application form. From there the minister will arrange a time to come and meet with you and then book in the date for your baptism.
Our church is child-friendly. There is access to a private room for mothers and the youngest ones where parents can still participate in the service while caring for their children. Also available is a separate children's program (Sunday School) where qualified leaders run a fun and engaging program teaching children about Jesus.
If you would like to discuss the option of a Baptism or Thanksgiving service further, please call us on 9670 1973.
